Purpose and Goals
The purpose of this Blog will be to provide Ocean Tides' students and staff a place to post and share assignments and information. Comments from the public would be nice as well! Our goal is to get more of our students to maximize their exposure to appropriate technological trends on the read-write web. Social Networking websites are prohibited at our school so this Blog will hopefully encourage our students to comment on their own portfolios and generate positive peer reviews instead of just using blogs to try to check for friend requests!
As of February 26, 2007 all students will have completed a Black History power point presentation focused an historically significant person of their choice. I hope to post a few here in the upcoming days.
Students are also starting to create science fair projects.
Progress and ideas will be posted shortly!

It's a new begining for you, Chris!

Chris-
How lucky your students are to have you helping them to push the technology envelope, with power point presentations and peer reviewing blogs. I can't wait to see your updated site, with some of their work. Nice job!
Chris
It sounds like I'll be attempting something similar with the students' writing and we're also working on a science fair. I teach sixth grade. I'm working with our IT teacher so that all classes who want a class site w or w/o a blog will have access through the school site.
Last year I used a Scholastic site to post homework assignments, but I just couldn't keep the postings current. New ideas...I'll post assignemnts by the week and perhaps when we're sure about the permission & safety issues, a student could post them. Do you think they would change the due dates? :)
Is the posting from S a student? As I look around at blogs, I've seen a number of similar comments, so I'm sure the ability to moderate will be important. I may post this on the class blog as well. Have a good week. DC
thanks for the feedback , and yes dcunha that post WAS from a student, past tense.
I fiddled with my settings and I have to allow posts with preview before publishing.
Chris,
This looks really good! I've got a lot of pics and work from the kids if you need material.
